A brand new interactive tool from the Office of National Statistics (ONS) now lets you to compare average earnings, and the all important gender pay gap, without having to scroll through pages of boring graphs.
From legal workers to machine operators and yes, even journalists, almost every job is accounted for, including whether you're working part time or not.
The special interactive tool, which was launched by the department for women and equalities, pulls data from the Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings, and also reveals how many women and men work in each role.
According to the survey, the gender pay gap has decreased massively year-on-year, and:
At 18.1%, the gap in average pay between men and women, for all employees, is the lowest since records began.
When the annual survey began back in 1997, the recorded gap for all employees was a staggering 27.5%.
However, despite the gap in pay narrowing substantially, there are still a number of industries letting women down.
These jobs, according to ONS, include construction and building trade supervisors, financial managers and directors and printers.
Interestingly, when it comes to part-time employment, women are paid more on average, resulting in a “negative” gender pay gap, but ONS adds that this gap:
Has decreased from minus 6.8% in April 2015 to minus 6.0% in April 201
The roles with the most similar pay for both men and women included bar work, waiting tables and fishmongers and poultry dressers.
