The Simpsons has experienced many ups and downs throughout its 32 seasons but there is no doubting the joy that the dreamy music and the words 'The Simpsons...' creates whenever that introduction starts.

It's one of, if not the most iconic opening credits in television history right up there with The Sopranos, Friends and Game of Thrones or whatever your personal favourite is.

The introduction has rarely been changed over the decades, with the key jokes featuring Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Marge all remaining intact as they make their way through an average day in Springfield.

Even if you've only watched a few episodes of the animated show, this intro will be etched into your brain. Well, allow us to introduce you to a new take on the intro, made up entirely of stock footage from right here in the real world.

Comedian Matthew Highton spent a day trawling through stock footage to recreate the Simpsons intro and we have to say that it is almost seamless especially when played side-by-side with the real thing.

The video has already been viewed more than 230,000 times on Twitter and needless to say people love it.

Amazingly, this isn't the first time that Highton has gone to these lengths to recreate TV show intros with just stock footage. Previous efforts include Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The OC, Happy Days, The Young Ones, Friends and Duck Tales.

Lockdown might be difficult for many but it has inspired some incredible creativity.

Incidentally, this isn't the first time the Simpsons intro has made news in recent weeks. A viral tweet from January, which compared how the animation quality of the show over time sparked a debate amongst fans as to whether they prefer the older or new style of the show.
