Things looked a little different at the Oscars this year due to Covid-19 safety protocols. But, despite the restrictions, instead of Zoom awards shows we’ve witnessed so far, we got a full-on red carpet event.

After a year of shaky video cameras and awkward acceptance speeches in front of laptops, we couldn’t have been more excited about it.

The ceremony was split between two locations: the usual Dolby Theater in Hollywood, and Union Station in downtown Los Angeles.

Although attendees arrived in-person, the red carpet was thoroughly downsized, with Oscar parties canceled.

Nominees were also only allowed to bring one guest with them. In addition. this year’s Oscars included a push for diversity and inclusion, with Chadwick Boseman, Viola Davis, Daniel Kaluuya and Yuh-Jung Young earning nominations in leading categories.
