On the weekend, Conservative politician Tom Tugendhat tweeted out a fairly harmless account of what he’d got up to during 24 hours of solo parenting. It was about as inoffensive a tweet as one could imagine but that still didn’t stop someone taking umbrage, this is Twitter after all.

Annunziata Rees-Mogg, sister of Jacob and fellow Brexiteer, had this to say:

Is it just me, or do most mums (and dads) just get on with normal parenting without expecting applause? I thought basic nurturing of your own children was part of the deal being a parent.

The one significant fact omitted from the tweet is that Annunziata employs a nanny, one who was the subject of a dispute with her brother since the pair grew up being cared for by one Veronica Crook, and both had hoped to employ her to look after their own children.

Oh, and let's not forget that Jacob once boasted of never having changed a nappy. This is a man with six children.

In his own words, "I’ve made no pretence to be a modern man at all, ever."

In essence, this is just a man doing a fun tweet about parenting and a killjoy reacting in a completely unnecessary manner.

Don’t be fooled by that nanny she's got, she's still, she's still Annunziata from the block
