Awkward. Obama had his credit card rejected in New York

Having your credit card rejected is something that happens to everyone - even the president of the United States.

Barack Obama was quoted as saying on Friday that he had it rejected last month while out in New York with his wife Michelle. He was in the city to attend sessions at the United Nations.

Speaking at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau while he signed executive orders to tighten security on federal debit and credit cards, he said:

“I went to a restaurant up in New York during the UN General Assembly and my credit card was rejected. It turned out I guess I don’t use it enough, so they thought there was some fraud going on... Fortunately, Michelle had hers.

“I was trying to explain to the waitress, ‘No, I really think that I’ve been paying my bills,’” he added, according to ABC News.
