President Netanyahu of Israel wants to name a new town on Golan Heights after Donald Trump. Yes, he actually wants this.

On Tuesday, Israel said it would name a new community on the Golan Heights after Trump as an expression of gratitude for his recognition of its claim to sovereignty over the area, reports the Huffington Post.

In 1967, Israel captured and annexed the Golan from Syria, in a move that was not recognised internationally at the time. Last month, the United States broke with other world powers, signing a decree recognising the Golan Heights as Israeli territory.

Speaking in a video released by his office Thursday, Netanyahu said:

All Israelis were deeply moved when president Trump made his historic decision to recognise Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights.

Therefore, after the Passover holiday, I intend to bring to the government a resolution calling for a new community on the Golan Heights, named after president Donald J Trump.

The move is yet another sign of the flourishing 'bromance' between the two world leaders, whose political rhetoric and actions often mirror one another. They also frequently lavish each other with praise.

In March, Netanyahu claimed that Israel had 'never had a better ally' than the United States, while he visited Washington for Trump's signing of the declaration of the Golan Heights as an official Isreali province.

The Golan Heights, a raised plateau between Israel and Syria, was captured by Israel during the 1967 war, but was formally annexed in 1981, in a move that wasn't recognised by the United Nations, or the wider international community, reports the Washington Post.

Well, who fancies a trip down to Trump Town?
