Boris Johnson has been depicted as The Joker from Batman in a cartoon on the front page of French newspaper, L’Opinion.

In the cartoon, which sees Angela Merkel depicted as Batman and Emmanuel Macron as Robin, Johnson appears to be modelled on Heath Ledger’s definitive portrayal of the Joker in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight.

Johnson’s Joker is seen holding up a sign reading, “Why so serious?” while the speech bubble has him offering the comment, “I am an agent of chaos.” It’s worth keeping in mind one of the character’s most memorable lines in The Dark Knight:

Do I really look like a guy with a plan? You know what I am? I'm a dog chasing cars. I wouldn't know what to do with one if I caught it! You know, I just... *do* things.

Some men do, indeed, just want to watch the world burn.
