Brit awards: Beyoncé and Jay-Z accepted their award in front of a Meghan Markle portrait and people love it

Is there anything Beyoncé and Jay-Z can’t do?

Music’s first couple accepted the BRIT award for Best International Group via video for their collaboration album EVERYTHING IS LOVE last night

Given that Beyoncé and Jay-Z are both considered to be music royalty, the famous couple gave a nod to actual, real-life royalty in their acceptance video.

Standing in front of an oil painting of Meghan Markle, duchess of Sussex, dressed in royal attire, the Carters said:

Thank you so much to the BRIT awards for this incredible honor.

Everything is love. Thank you.

On Instagram, Queen Bee posted a longer message, giving a further shoutout to Markle.

In honor of Black History Month, we bow down to one of our Melanated Monas.

Congrats on your pregnancy! We wish you so much joy.

Some people viewed the shoutout as a comment on British media’s treatment of Markle and her family. Markle has been blamed for everything from choosing non-toxic paint for new unborn child’s nursery to Prince Harry’s baldness. Though, thankfully, at least her A-List fans appear to have her back, alongside thousands of Twitter users who expressed their support.
