Cancer doctors recreated celebrity Instagram pictures to raise money for charity

A radiologist has been recreating the Instagram posts of celebrities in order to raise money for charity.

Mark Udovitch, a doctor based in Sydney, has been taking part in the 'Dry July' fundraising campaign for adults living with cancer. Other participants include fellow oncologists from his hospital in Liverpool, New South Wales.

As well as recreating Instagram photos, Udovitch has been growing his hair out in order to shave it for use in a hospital wig library. Hair loss can be a very distressed part of the cancer treatment process, and so the idea for the 'Dry July Shave Off' came into being.

The photos were posted to the group's fundraising Facebook page, and visitors are encouraged to donate to the worthy cause.

Udovitch's partner Lisa has been the photographer, make up artist and director for the project.

The fund has already raise $19,000 (AUD) but they need more help to reach their target of $100,000.

Speaking to Mashable.com Udovitch said:

I would have loved to have reach our goal of $100k but it doesn't look like we will get there with a week to go... to be honest, we came into this with very low expectations and just wanted to have some fun and raise awareness about the good work we do at Liverpool Cancer Therapy Centre but it has steadily been gaining momentum online and who knows!
