It’s fair to say that American politics has seen better days.
Following the election of president Trump, discourse between US politicians has reached an all time low, with a bitter partisan divide preventing America’s two main parties, the Republicans and the Democrats, from working together.
But all is not lost.
A viral photograph depicting a bi-partisan discussion between two female politicians has the internet talking.
Diane Feinstein, a democratic senator from California, is seen deep in conversation with Lisa Ann Murkowski, a republican senator from Alaska.
Murkowski’s vote is seen as crucial in the upcoming confirmation vote on Brett Kavanaugh, Trump’s nominee for the US Supreme Court. Kavanaugh’s nomination was plunged into disarray when a letter sent to Feinstein by California professor Dr Christine Blasey Ford, which alleged that he sexually assaulted her at a high school party 30 years ago, was made public.
Following the letter, three more women have come forward to accuse Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct.
It is unclear exactly what the two women are discussing, but it is likely to be related to Kavanaugh’s nomination, which remains uncertain.
Twitter users were quick to speculate on what the two women were discussing. Many think that Feinstein is trying to convince Murkowski to vote against Kavanaugh's nomination.
