Donald Trump released a puzzling statement this week, in which he condemned his former staff for relaying information about the politician in a slew of telling books detailing his time in office.

In the statement, the former US president alleged that “nobody had ever heard of some of these people that worked for me in D.C.” until he personally hired him, and that “all of a sudden, the Fake News starts calling them.”

“Some of them—by no means all—feel emboldened, brave, and for the first time in their lives, they feel like ‘something special,’ not the losers they they are—and they talk, talk, talk,” he said of his theory as to why certain members of the Trump administration may feel compelled to speak out.

“Many say I am the greatest star maker of all time,” he continued, before adding a bizarre addendum: “But some of the stars I produced are actually made of garbage.”

This isn’t the only peculiar statement Trump has made in light of several revealing books’ releases. Trump also told reporters that he “never threatened, or spoke about, to anyone, a coup of our Government,” in response to allegations from book “I Alone Can Fix It.” However he concluded by asserting his distaste for “doing a coup” with General Mark Milley, specifically.

“If was going to do a coup, one of the last people I would want to do it with is General Mark Milley,” he clarified. Well, now we know.

In any event, Twitter is absolutely losing it over Trump’s “garbage star” declaration.

Others were surprised to actually agree with Trump on something.

Well you know what they say. Shoot for the moon: Even if you miss, you’ll land among the garbage stars.
