Euro 2020: England fans stuck in Rome hotels for breaking Covid quarantine rules

While it may well be coming home for the England team, we can’t say the same for some of their fans who are stuck in Rome hotels.

At least 50 England supporters were intercepted by police and put in 27 hotels around Rome after breaking Italy’s five-day quarantine rule ahead of the Euro 2020 quarter final, reports local newspaper Il Messaggero.

All the fans in question had their tickets cancelled and their names put on the so-called ‘blacklist’ for the city’s fan-zones and the Olympic Stadium.

The rules are in place to control the spread of coronavirus in the country but that didn’t stop some chancers trying to get a taste of the action.

England beat Ukraine 4-0 last night and booked a place in the semi-finals in an outstanding performance. Captain Harry Kane scored a goal in the first four minutes of the game. Then, seconds into the second half, Maguire scored England’s second goal, before Kane scored his second of the night, taking it to 3-0. Jordan Henderson then took the scoreline to a hefty 4-0.

England will play Denmark on Wednesday in Wembley. It’s a shame 50 supporters won’t get back in time to see it.
