David Mellor has apologised live on air during his radio phone-in show for a foul-mouthed outburst against a London taxi driver.
The former Tory MP said he was “really, really sorry” for the way he spoke to the cabbie, in a row over the best route to take that was recorded and handed to the Sun newspaper.
Mellor told listeners to his LBC show that he “had a case” but “threw it away” by the way he spoke.
He pledged to stick to water at the next celebratory lunch he attended, and to donate money to London taxi drivers’ Christmas charity appeal for underprivileged kids.
