Last district in Sierra Leone without Ebola, now has Ebola

The only district in Sierra Leone as-yet untouched by Ebola now has two confirmed cases.

Residents in Koinadugu had managed to escape the outbreak for months thanks in part to the efforts of businessman Momoh Konte, who returned to his country of birth from the US to spearhead strict safety precautions being introduced.

The World Health Organisation said the two cases in Koinadugu were among 425 in the country as a whole.

The Ebola outbreak, the world's worst-ever, has infected more than 9,000 people, killing half of them.
