This panel sums up the problem with discussing women in politics

On Wednesday’s episode of MSNBC’s With All Due Respect, the topic was women and politics.

Show host Mark Halperin talked about former Miss Universe Alicia Machado and her appearance on CNN the day before, where she revealed the sexism she faced from Donald Trump in 1996.

The show had a panel of five people to talk about women's body issues.

Democratic strategist Mark Penn, senior adviser to the Donald Trump campaign Boris Epshteyn, and Republican strategist Dan Senor, pictured above.

All of them, very, very obviously not women.

The panel choice, dubbed ‘Three Wise Men’ (it got worse) talked about Trump’s weight shaming comments to Machado - ‘Miss Piggy’ and later ‘Miss Housekeeping’.

Epshteyn spoke first.

Did he condemn what was cleary a derogatory comment about the former winner's weight?

No.

When asked about the comment, he responded:

It’s between [her] and him. There are some things in her background that are in dispute...

She chose to participate in the pageant. I don’t think it matters.

He mentioned [her weight] as an overall issue with her as a contestant. 

Wrong: Trump's reaction to criticism had been to attack a 'private citizen about her weight'.

The questioning turned to Senor. If he was Trump's senior adviser, what would he say to the presidential candidate?

Your temperament is the number one issue holding you back from being president. Just say you and her had a disagreement and move on.

Temperament. Right.
