After a summer of cracking on, grafting and recoupling, Love Island 2018 has (finally) come to an end.
The result was inevitable: Dani Dyer, daughter of EastEnders actor Danny Dyer, stormed to victory with stationary salesman Jack Fincham.
After a summer of World Cup highs and lows followed by the never-ending drama of Brexit, Love Island was certainly a welcome distraction. The result wasn’t just the one most people wanted, but the result the nation needed.
Of course, given the popularity of Dani and Jack, who triumphed over Laura and Paul, Kaz and Josh and Megan and Wes, the nation – and even reality TV queen Paris Hilton – was overjoyed.

Some viewers were left unimpressed by Love Island’s “split or steal” twist.
Me @ the producers of #loveisland for making me watch that split or steal section at the end https://t.co/lvxMMrbsVp— Rachel 🪆 (@Rachel 🪆) 1532986925
And, considering it’s 2018, the memes kept on coming.
My mum actually just wiped a tear away watching Megan and Wes’ speech 😭😭 #loveisland https://t.co/4FInh2eBvT— 𝒦azz (@𝒦azz) 1532982761
