New footage shows the terrifying moment Nepal earthquake struck Kathmandu

CCTV footage, uploaded to YouTube on Wednesday, shows the terrifying moment a 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal.

As the camera begins to visibly shake, cars slide across the road, dust quickly rises and what appears to be a temple collapses in a heap, possibly crashing into people on the street below.

More than 5,500 people have died and millions more have been affected by the earthquake which struck the Himalayan nation at the weekend.

The epicentre of the quake hit the province of Gorkha, in the centre of the country, severely affecting the nearby capital, as well as more remote areas like Mt Everest in the east.
