Instead, it is the supporters of Nigel Farage's party who show the greatest outrage at Russia's role in the Ukraine crisis and the Kremlin's supposed role in arming pro-Russian separatists with anti-aircraft missiles.

YouGov found that 62 per cent of Ukip voters back calls for Russia to be stripped of the 2018 tournament while the figure for Liberal Democrat voters was 52 per cent.

Overall, half of all voters for the three main parties (and Ukip) - sadly the Green Party, who actually have an MP, were not included in the poll - would support Russia being stripped of the 2018 World Cup and the Grand Prix in October.
