On August 26, 1970, 20,000 women took to the streets of New York as part of the Women's Strike for Equality, marching for equal pay and rights, repealing of anti-abortion laws and free childcare.
But the sentiment was somewhat lost on the reporter a Cedar Rapids news station sent to cover the event.
