The world has seen some pretty scary weather over the last year, from wildfires in Australia and Brazil to, to hurricanes in Puerto Rico and earthquakes in the Philippines.

Now a town in Spain has been engulfed by a strange sea foam.

The town of Tossa de Mar in Spain’s Catalonia region is struggling to cope after being flooded with the strange substance. Apparently, high waves in the aftermath of Storm Gloria – which has battered Spain’s east coast, causing power cuts and flooding – is responsible.

Heavy snowfall has also closed roads in northern Spain, with a number of people reported dead or missing.
