Enjoy tomorrow because people think the world is going to end on Wednesday

It wouldn't be a real news week if there wasn't an apocalypse story to report on.

Luckily this time it isn't anything to do with the mysterious planet Nibiru or a giant asteroid. This time, it's to do with our very own moon and a few passages in the Bible.

On Wednesday people around the globe will bear witness to the incredibly rare 'super blue blood moon' which turns the moon a spectacular dark red colour.

Blood moons are not that uncommon (the phenomenon is caused when the Earth blocks the sun from the moon, creating a unique eclipse and reddish hue) but a 'super blue blood moon' hasn't happened for 152 years.

Basically, a 'super blue blood moon' is the result of a blue moon (the second full moon in a calendar month) occurring at the same time as a super moon (when the moon is nearest to Earth and appears about 14 per cent brighter than usual) and a blood moon. Phew.

Anyway, you're probably wondering what this has to do with a potential apocalypse. The Daily Star reports that several verses in the Bible refer to a blood moon bringing about the end of days.

They cite the verse 6:12-14 in the Book of Revelations which reads:

When he opened the sixth seal, I looked, and behold, here was a great earthquake and the sun became black as sackcloth, the full moon became like blood and the stars of the sky fell to Earth as the fig tree sheds its winter fruit when shaken by a gale.

The sky vanished like a scroll that is being rolled up and every mountain and island was removed from its place.

Then another reference to the blood moon is apparently made in the Book of Acts 2:20, which says:

The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord.

That's pretty alarming stuff, especially as the sixth seal refers to the apocalyptic documents and the opening of the seventh seal will apparently unleash the rapture on mankind.

As with most of these theories, there is little to be concerned about as previous Bible prophecies have passed with no incidents to report of.

However, conspiracy theorist Paul Begley believes that the blood moon will ignite a nuclear war between Russia and the US and that it's all to do with Internet cables in the Middle East. Pardon?

In a video posted on his website Prophecy Ministries, Begley says:

We are living in the last days. Internet cables cut. We're talking torpedos prepared. It's just getting crazy.

The cables that go underground to the Middle East that not only for the Internet but for the telecommunications systems have apparently been cut.

Now, they are trying to say that Russia did but Russia are saying that 'it's nothing to do with us, it's something completely different.'

But, this is the kind of stuff that is starting to surface and all of this now is that we are entering closer to super blue blood moon.

He also claims that the Pentagon believes that Vladimir Putin is constructing a huge "Doomsday Torpedo" which will target coastal cities in the US.

Yeah, we're not sure if any of that actually exists and if it does, we're not sure what it has to do with a blood moon.

So, our best advice is to relax and enjoy the spectacle of the blood moon on Wednesday as the world is unlikely to be ending as a result of it.
