These are the five biggest issues for Britain at the moment

A new tracker poll has revealed the five biggest issues for the British public in September.

Over 950 adults were asked “What would you say is the most important issue facing the UK today?” in the survey by Ipsos-Mori for The Economist.

Immigration tops the list of concerns to British adults by a large margin, ranked as the most important by 40 per cent of the country, and 64 per cent of Ukip voters.

The issue is ranked as most important to 52 per cent of Conservatives, 35 per cent of Labour supporters and 22 per cent of Liberal Democrats.

The next most important issues to the public as a whole were the NHS (9 per cent), the economy (8 per cent), and then unemployment and poverty joint (5 per cent).

Zero per cent of Conservative and Ukip supporters thought that unemployment was the most important issue.
