This senator had the perfect response to Donald Trump giving out his phone number

Like most politicians, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham is not exactly renowned for his sparkling wit.

That said, the presidential hopeful from South Carolina proved his sense of humour is alive and kicking in a video filmed in response to his public doxxing by Donald Trump on Tuesday.

Trump was speaking at a campaign rally in Graham's home state when he called the sitting senator an "idiot" and held up a piece of paper with a phone number written on it, telling the crowd to call and tell Graham what they thought of him. A Politico reporter did, and Graham picked up, although his connection later jammed after he was trolled with calls from Trump supporters.

Even though it's 2015, Graham famously continues to use a flip phone. In a video posted by IJ Review, he let the world know he'd considered getting rid of the old phone in a variety of violent and inventive ways before realising, "if all else fails, you can always give your number to the Donald."

Graham finishes up his bent of mayhem by chucking his phone away with an overarm throw and saying "This one's for all the veterans" - a reference to 2008 Reuplican presidential hopeful Senator John McCain, who Trump recently ridiculed for spending five years as a prisoner of war in Vietnam.

RIP, Lindsey Graham's flip phone (1998-2015).
