A 15-year-old from Glasgow rinsed all five candidates to be Tory leader and it's perfect

Tuesday night saw the five Tory leadership hopefuls go head-to-head in a battle for the top job, however, there was one person who stood out above and beyond all the other candidates - and it was a 15-year-old girl from Glasgow.

The hour-long debate was held on BBC One and saw Rory Stewart, Michael Gove, Sajid Javid, Jeremy Hunt and Boris Johnson clash over their visions for Brexit.

However, despite the illustrious line up of mainly privately-educated men, most Twitter users were rather more taken with straight-talking Glaswegian teen Erin.

Speaking on the show, Erin asked for a commitment to zero carbon emissions by 2025 to secure the future of the planet for her generation, however, none of the five agreed that it was a priority.

In response, she said:

None of you have impressed me in the way I would have wanted.

Boom. To be honest Erin, we couldn't have put it better ourselves.

After her appearance on the show, the 15-year-old quickly went viral, with many saying that she would be a better bet for the top job than the five hopefuls battling it out on the show.

Many thought that she should be the next prime minister.

Others said she 'spoke for the nation'.

It was pretty iconic, really.

Honestly, completely iconic.

Let's all hear it for the most intelligent person in the room!

An absolute and total legend.

Honestly, Erin for PM!
