Republicans compare Trump's impeachment to abortion, Pearl Harbour and persecution of Jesus

Donald Trump has been impeached by the House of Representatives, with Democrats voting in favour of two impeachable acts deemed to have been committed by the president during a conversation with the Ukrainian president from earlier this year.

Trump is now only the third president to be impeached while in office but it's unlikely that he will be too concerned about being ousted from the White House, as the bill for impeachment will most likely be defeated in the Republican-controlled senate.

Before the actual vote on impeachment, members of the House debated the terms of impeachment that were being held against the president, which included some eye-opening statements.

Perhaps the most alarming of them all came from Rep. Barry Loudermilk, of Georgia's 11 congressional district who boldly stated that 'Trump is persecuted more severely than Jesus Christ' and that "ethe Democrats are worse than Pontius Pilate."

When Jesus was falsely accused of treason, Pontius Pilate gave Jesus the opportunity to face his accusers. During that sham trial, Pontius Pilate afforded more rights to Jesus than Democrats have afforded this president in this process.

Yep. That's a 55-year-old man having a completely normal one.

Needless to say, people were not impressed with this Biblical comparison, including Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

The Republicans were not done there. Rep. Mike Kelly of Pennsylvania's 16th congressional district actually compared the impeachment to the Pearl Harbour attacks in World War II

On December 7 a horrific act happened in the United States, and it’s one that President Roosevelt said, ‘This is a date that will live in infamy.’ Today, December the 18, 2019, is another date that will live in infamy.

When just because you hate the president of the United States and you can find no reason other than the fact that you're so blinded by your hate that you can’t see straight that you’ve decided the only way we can make sure this president doesn’t get elected again is to impeach him.

If you thought that was bad, wait until you hear what Rep. Clay Higgins of Louisiana's 3rd congressional district said:

I have descended into the belly of the beast. I have witnessed a terror within. And I was committed to oppose the insidious forces which threaten our republic.

America has been severely injured by this betrayal, by this unjust and weaponized impeachment brought upon us by the same socialists who threaten unborn life in the womb, who threaten First Amendment rights of conservatives, who threaten Second Amendment protections of every American patriot, and who have long ago determined that they would organise and conspire to overthrow president Trump.

Yeah... They aren't rattled at all.
