Back in 2016 – a time that feels like many centuries ago – Hillary Clinton referred to Trump supporters as a “basket of deplorables” which caused a lot of a commotion.
Firing back at the time, the now-president’s son Donald Trump Jr wrote in a tweet in September of 2016, “Dear Clintons, You know what's deplorable? Being Impeached!!!”.
As you may imagine, this tweet has come back to haunt Trump Jr not only once… but now twice.
“Very rare to see a tweet age badly twice,” James Felton wrote.
“Hey did your dad ever win the popular vote? I'm sure he never got impeached, what's that? he did?” another person commented on Wednesday, the day Donald Trump was impeached for a second time after inciting deadly violence at the Capitol building last week.
“Hi, I’m here from the future. Guys, you are NOT gonna believe what happens,” another person joked. “So it’s doubly deplorable to be impeached twice,” Tim O’Brien added.
One of the internet’s favourite pastimes is pointing out “there’s always a tweet” when it comes to the Trumps, who have a tendency to accidentally guess their own futures as they ciricitise people.
The Twitter account “There’s always a tweet” also retweeted on Wednesday one of Trumps old tweets – a screenshot, as his account is now permanently banned due to the Capitol riots – where he asked in 2014, “Are you allowed to impeach a president for gross incompetence?”
Either way, many people actually agreed with the 2016 Trump Jr: “You are so right. You are righter than right. And you know what's even more deplorable? Being impeached twice!”
