The 2020 election might seem like a long way away, but it’ll be here quicker than you think.

If president Trump can avoid being impeached by the Senate, which seems likely, then he will face one of a narrowing field of democrats in the November vote.

As his impeachment trial continues, Trump took to Twitter to share a poll which sees him beating several Democrats in Florida – a key swing state that he won in 2016 against Hillary Clinton.

Trump gloated that he was beatingRadical Left, Do Nothing Democrats” in the poll, calling the results “nice”.

But there’s one “radical left” Democrat who seemed to be missing from the attached picture, and from the poll results.

While the poll featured head-to-head results between Trump and Elizabeth Warren, Joe Biden, Pete Buttigieg and Michael Bloomberg, Democrat frontrunner Bernie Sanders was mysteriously absent.

The poll was conducted by Florida Chambers of Commerce, an organisation that, according to their website, is “devoted to the advocacy of private businesses in the state of Florida.”

So it’s safe to say they might not have a lot of love for a socialist like Sanders.

Why was Sanders missing?

The Florida Chambers of Commerce acknowledged that Sanders was absent from the poll, simply saying that there were “no results” for a head-to-head between Trump and the Vermont senator. They didn't give a reason.

Below Trump’s tweets, supporters of Sanders were keen to point out that Sanders has consistently polled at least five points ahead of Trump in Florida polls, including in one poll taken the previous week.

The poll only has a sample size of 600 likely voters, which might not be the most reliable way to poll a state of 20 million people.

But it's certainly telling that the poll didn't include the Democrat who is, albiet narrowly, leading the field.

We wonder why that could be?
