Another day, another unhinged segment on Fox News.
As the 2020 presidential election draws nearer, the right-wing news network invited “Diamond and Silk” – two of president Trump’s most ardent supporters – on to discuss the Democratic primary race.
North Carolina natives Diamond and Silk, real names Lynnette Hardaway and Rochelle Richardson, are conservative bloggers and social media personalities. Both were Democrats in 2015 before switching allegiance.
During the segment, the pair made a particularly bizarre and nonsensical claim about Democrats Joe Biden and Elizabeth Warren.
Diamond said:
When you look at Joe Biden and Elizabeth Warren it’s just like salt and sugar – they’re the same, right?
They’re pushing these socialistic ideas in different forms.
After discussing their plans for healthcare and immigration, she concluded:
They’re both the same.
This might be the first time someone has used the metaphor of “salt and sugar” – two ingredients renowned for looking similar, but tasting like polar opposites – to suggest that two people are the same.
On Twitter, people found the error hilarious.
