Donald Trump just tried to compare police shootings to golf and even Laura Ingraham wasn’t having any of it.
In an interview with the Fox News host, Trump was discussing the reputation of the police.
Referencing the death of police officer Tamarris Bohannon on Saturday, Ingraham claimed:
It’s more dangerous to be a police officer today – do you not think – than it has been in a long time?
Trump responded:
The police are under siege… They can do 10,000 great acts – which is what they do – and one bad apple, or a choker...
Trump then referenced the shooting of Jacob Blake – a Black man who was shot in the back seven times by a police officer, while his family were in the car watching.
Trump added:
Shooting a guy in the back many times, I mean, couldn’t you have done something different? Couldn’t you have wrestled him? In the meantime, he might’ve been going for a weapon. It’s a whole big thing there. But they choke.
And then came Trump’s bizarre reference to golf:
Just like in a golf tournament, they miss a three-foot putt…
Ingraham quickly interjected:
You’re not comparing it to golf because of course that’s what the media would say. People panic.
Trump reiterated:
People choke. People choke. And people are bad people. You have some bad people and they choke.
The unbelievable nod to golf left many people speechless:
But people were also curious to know exactly how the conversation would have progressed if Ingraham didn’t cut the president off:
And people weren’t having Trump using the word “choke” to discuss police brutality:
What a disaster of an interview...
