When national anthems go wrong - really, really wrong

When national anthems go wrong - really, really wrong

It's just not a good time to be someone singing a national anthem right now.

Hot on the heels of a Canadian singer falling, well, head over heels while belting out O Canada we find Argentinean tenor Marcelo Zelada garbling Advance Australia Fair.

The Wallabies, in Mendoza to take on the Pumas, were openly laughing after a beguiling take on the national anthem by Zelada, who wasn't going to let the fact he didn't know the words get in the way of him singing it with gusto.

Something must have worked, however, as Argentina came from behind to defeat Australia 21-17.

If you want to sing along with Zelada, here are the actual lyrics (to verse one, anyway):

Australians all let us rejoice,
For we are young and free;
We've golden soil and wealth for toil;
Our home is girt by sea;
Our land abounds in nature's gifts
Of beauty rich and rare;
In history's page, let every stage
Advance Australia Fair.
In joyful strains then let us sing,
Advance Australia Fair.
