Why this artist painted a portrait of Donald Trump in her menstrual blood

Artist Sarah Levy has a point to make about Donald Trump. And she's making it in blood.

Menstrual blood.

The self-described "journalist, activist and artist" aims to hit back at the Republican candidate, taking inspiration from his two biggest campaign blunders:

  1. When he called Mexican migrants in the US "rapists" and "murderers".
  2. When he suggested Fox News host Megyn Kelly was giving him a hard time because she was on her period.

Levy, from Portland, Oregon, waited for just the right time in her menstrual cycle, then painted a portrait of Trump using her period blood.

According to BuzzFeed News, the artist plans to sell her work and donate all profits to a pro-immigration organisation.

That he thinks he can bring up the healthy functioning of women's reproductive systems to insult women's intelligence is a big problem that I think needs to be called out.

However, she was keen to note the colour had already faded from bright red to a reddish-brown.
