Our search engines may know the true complexion of our souls better than any loved one or relative.
Google (or Bing, heaven forbid) is where we share our most private curiosities and wants.
Reddit users have been discussing what you should never put into a search engine, even if you think Ask Jeeves will somehow be more genteel.
1. Google is not your doctor
Do not try to self diagnose.
Medical school is seven years for a reason.
2. Google is not your anxiety counsellor
It will give you back, exactly what you put it into it.
3. Google is a snitch
Your web history is always available to them, even in 'Incognito mode'.
So if you Google anything that might be dangerous or damaging, they will probably report it.
4. Google is an archive of gross out images
If you Google images of any of the following you will be made to feel unwell.
Terms like 'Deglove', 'Blue waffle', 'Lemon party', are the classic, gross, NSFW content that you should never Google.
5. Google is essentially the Death Star, with its own built in exhaust port
6. Google is a repository for a surprising amount of public knowledge about YOU
Searching for your name, or your email address, will throw up all the places it's been collated online, and that can be pretty unnerving.
While you can ask Google to 'forget' you, it won't be long before any website you gave your email too spreads it around the rest of the web like a pandemic.
Even if you use Incognito.
