On Sunday, NASA shared a photo of the sun looking extra spooky to their Facebook page.

The photo, taken in 2014, shows “active regions” on the sun. They create the illusion of a Jack-o-lantern style face, just in time for Halloween.

Even our star celebrates the spooky season” said NASA, encouraging people to download and post the photo themselves.

The space agency added that:

This image blends together two sets of extreme ultraviolet wavelengths at 171 and 193 Ångströms, typically colorized in gold and yellow, to create a particularly Halloween-like appearance.

That’s all pretty complicated, but people are sharing the spooky photo of the sun in the spirit of Halloween.
