4 pretty iron-cast reasons that Game of Thrones character definitely isn't dead

Warning: Spoilers follow.

You should read no further if you haven't seen the finale of season five of Game of Thrones or read A Dance with Dragons.

Hi.

To restate: Jon Snow is not dead. Here are four reasons why.

1. It wouldn't make any sense

As previously stated, it just doesn't make literary sense to kill off Jon, the only POV character able to advance the storyline at the Wall (arguably the focal point for the remainder of the series) in any meaningful way. Jon is also the only person alive for whom the riddle of his parentage means anything to - why snuff out one of the fundamental mysteries of the series in such a way?

Why?

2. Kit Harington hasn't cut his hair

It sounds like an internet myth but Kit Harington really is contractually obliged to keep his hair long while he's on the show. This is what he looked like when he joined spectators in the royal box at Wimbledon.

3. The Tower of Joy

Some seemingly mundane announcements made earlier this month about filming at Castillo de Zafra in Guadalajara in Spain all but confirmed that season six (and the next A Song of Ice and Fire book) will finally reveal who Jon's parents are. The 12th century castle bears a striking similarity to the description of the Tower of Joy; where Ned Stark and his companions killed members of the Kingsguard to find Ned's sister Lyanna - and supposedly Jon's mother - dying inside. Hm...

4. Kit Harington is, um, filming new scenes for the next season

To be honest we're about ready to sum up here. Harington was spotted by Watchers on the Wall arriving along with other Game of Thrones cast members in Belfast, where filming for season six is getting underway.

So, basically everyone associated with Game of Thrones is a massive liar.

Case closed, no further questions.

Unless...

Nope! He's definitely alive.

More: If that Game of Thrones character isn't dead, then a director probably just committed treason by lying to Barack Obama
