The actress and director was about to present an award to Derby actor Jack O'Connell when she introduced him with the words "ay up me duck".
The phrase was greeted with confused silence by the audience at the Hollywood Film Awards, but O'Connell, who stars in Angelina Jolie's new World War 2 drama Unbroken, repeated it when he took to the stage.
