Choice of emoji can say a lot about a person – how they’re feeling, what they’re talking about, and who they’re talking to.

That’s why when royal fans caught a quick glimpse of what seemed like the usually-private Kate Middleton’s most-used emojis, the analysis was swift.

In the video shared to the Kensington Royal Instagram account earlier this week, the Duchess of Cambridge thanked her fans for sending in their questions “with wonderful emojis attached to them,” before quickly flashing her iPhone screen at the camera, exposing a few emojis while scrolling through the comments. The video is a part of Kate’s nationwide ‘Early Years’ campaign.

Those who are scarily observant were quick to say, “computer, enhance” and zoomed in as the screen was facing the camera.

The most-used symbols appeared to be two girls holding hands, a pineapple, the sweary face, a sliced-up cucumber, a gust of wind, a purple alien monster creature, a woman bowing and even the vomiting emoji. With such a “surprising”, eclectic (and kind of random?) mix, who knows what she’s thinking about!

“I tell you I was set with a fit of giggles about Kate Middleton revealing her most used emojis during her Big Questions survey presser. Don't know what to make of it. Almost edgy?” one person tweeted after the investigation.

“Hope they make a whole episode of The Crown about the emojis Princess Kate uses!” another person joked.

As much as we’d all like to do a psychoanalysis of the Duchess off this data, there is no actual proof that these are definitely representative of Kate’s emotions: the phone might not have been hers, for example, or the emoji spotting-analysis may not have been rigorous enough.
