Nadiya Hussain cemented her place as queen of the nation's hearts when she was announced as the winner of The Great British Bake Off.
The mum-of-three from Leeds's wit and warmth won her fans up and down the country.
As did her many, many facial expressions:
And creative, technically perfect bakes.
But of course, the haters gonna hate. And by haters, we mean the Daily Mail and The Sun, who couldn't quite comprehend that a hijab-wearing British woman of Bangaladeshi origin can partake in things like tea and cake and bunting.
The Daily Mail has more than once called out the diverse 2015 GBBO line up as a PC conspiracy.
Bloody immigrants. Coming over here, baking our cakes.
But now Nadiya has actually won, Daily Mail commenters' cup of fury hath well and truly spilleth over.
And over at The Sun, writer Ally Ross called the show:
Full-scale ideological warfare and another chance to argue about political-correctness in the BBC.
Turn up without a box tick to your name, some viewers reckon, and you can bake an exact replica of the Taj Mahal using shortbread fingers and meringue nests and it still won’t be enough to win this most PC of BBC shows.
Luckily most of the British public appear to be more open minded. Nadiya won because she was, simply, the best.
Long live Queen Nadiya!
