Noel Gallagher, the Oasis songwriter and spectacular interviewee, has said he’d rather have Boris Johnson than Liam for a brother.

In the latest in a long line of digs at his younger brother, Noel was appearing on the Scandinavian talk show Skavlan alongside Boris Johnson's sister Rachel Johnson.

During his appearance he recounted the day of the Brexit vote back in 2016 where he appeared to shock Rachel Johnson by admitting that he didn't vote, explaining his stance he said:

I was in the studio the day of the vote and there was a voting station across the road from the station and I thought, I can't be bothered to go and vote because who would be stupid enough to vote to leave?

We were all told we'd stay by a landslide so we just carried on working, and I went home and to be at about 11pm and every said we'd stay. I woke up and the world had changed. We've been in a mess ever since.

When quizzed on who he'd prefer as a sibling, Liam or Boris he said:

I would say Boris is more entertaining. His use of the English language is more superior. Liam is better looking though. I probably would not get on with either of them.

In a more measured analysis of the family dynamic, the High Flying Birds frontman explained that “family politics can be exhausting” before adding:

He insults my wife a lot. It is nothing to do with her at all. And he threatens my kids and it all gets a bit stupid. Liam has got how many kids? Officially? Four I believe. Nobody has got married yet so the situation has never arisen.

The songwriter was a lot friendlier when talking about the PM's sister (although admittedly she was sitting next to him), praising her apparently lovely head of hair:

Rachel has got magnificent hair. We were watching a panel show on Sky recently, me and my wife and I said, "She has got f**king great hair."

Despite all the ill feeling since the dissolution of Oasis a decade ago, Liam did admit recently he would be inviting his older brother to his upcoming wedding at the request of their mother. Whether Noel will RSVP remains to be seen.
