So for some reason, ‘bad bitch’ has emerged as a catch-all term used to describe confident, successful female badassery.

We’ll roll with it for the sake of this article.

Taylor Swift’s new album ‘Reputation’ has everything you’d expect – ex indirects (that's thinly veiled references towards an ex, for those not in the know), flashy visuals and a very personal touch.

But her latest album is also her darkest, with a grungy aesthetic and moody lyrics to match.

Twitter user Nutella was so smitten by Swift, she issued the following challenge:

"Name a b***h badder than Taylor Swift"

People on the internet naturally obliged. You see, there are quite a few…

La Maupin, an opera singing swordswoman.

Jeanne de Clisson, a French aristocrat whose husband was executed by the king, prompting her to become a pirate.

And Philippine revolutionary Teresa Magbanua.

Boudica, Queen of the Iceni.

Ching Shih, the pirate queen of 19th century China.

Sojourner Truth, a former slave who sued her former master to get her child back. She won.

Nancy Wake, WWII resistance courier.

Nakano Takeko, a Japanese warrior.

Lyudmila Pavlichenko, a Russian sniper who killed over 300 Nazis.

Khutulun, a Mongolian princess who won 10,000 horses wrestling men.

Burmese royal Olivia Yang, who ran out on an arranged marriage and led an army instead.

Nobel Prize laureate Dorothy Hodgkin.

To name just a few.
