Actor Tom Hanks has a penchant for surprising his fans.

Remember that time he photobombed a wedding during his morning run?

The Forrest-Gump actor is Denise Esposito's favourite, and the 23-year-old artist filled a notebook with beautiful watercolour illustrations depicting Hanks in all of his movie roles.

Just look at them:

Turner and Hooch, 1989

A League of their Own, 1992

Forrest Gump, 1994

Apollo 13, 1995

Toy Story, 1996

You've Got Mail, 1998

Inferno, 2016

Esposito sent the completed book to Hanks...

And then Tom Hanks had the most Tom Hanks response.

He visited the artist...

And sent Esposito a typewriter.

Denise Esposito, Denise Esposito, Denise Esposito… for your lovely book of sketches of – all – those MOVIES…

Here is a typewriter to do with whatever you need. Make more art!

And many thanks...

Tom Hanks

What a sweetheart.

This isn't the first time he'd made his love of vintage typewriters known.

In July 2012 Chris Hardwick sent Hanks a 1934 Smith Corona typewriter to entice the actor into going on his podcast.

This had been his response:

Just who do you think you are to try and bribe me into an appearance on your ‘thing’ with this gift of the most fantastic Corona Silent typewriter made in 1934?

You are out of your minds if you think…that I…wow, this thing has great action…and this deep crimson colour…wait! I’m not so shallow as to…and it types nearly silently…

Oh OKAY!

I will have my people contact yours and work out some kind of interview process…

Damn you all to hell
