Why Fifty Shades of Grey is sexier on paper

Female fans of Fifty Shades of Grey will not find the film as sexy as the books, according to science.

Men are more likely to respond to visual stimulus, neuroscientist Ogi Ogas explains to Time, but female desire is slightly more complicated.

"For a man, all he needs to know is whether the woman is healthy and fertile. You can judge that visually," Ogas, the author of A Billion Wicked Thoughts which explains the difference between male and female sexuality, said. "There’s overwhelming evidence that women prefer erotica to be textual rather than visual."

Ogas's research found they make one out of every 50 purchases on porn sites but buy nine out of every 10 romance novels.
