An English football team just lost 22-0 to the Russia U19s

"Cheadle Town Football Club have secured another friendly match versus prestigious international opposition," boasted the club's official website yesterday.

But after being handed a 22-0 drubbing by the youngsters they were probably slightly regretting having organised the fixture in the first place.

"I can't even say that any of their goals were flukes or should have been disallowed. In fact, every one was from inside the box, and they just about walked them all into the net. Our lads couldn't get anywhere near them at times," Cheadle secretary Stuart Crawford told the BBC.

We were supposed to play them twice, but I'm relieved to say the second game was cancelled.

The Russian team stopped off in Stockport for a game against the non-league side, but in preparation for an U19s mini-tournament in Northern Ireland next week.
