On Sunday night YouTuberJake Paul managed to record a surprise victory over former UFC champion Tyron Woodley in a highly anticipated boxing match.

Even though Paul was considered to be the bookies favourite going into the fight it was still considered a shock that he managed to beat Woodley who is a former UFC Welterweight Champion.

Paul went the distance in what is only his fourth fight in a boxing ring and for the first time was unable to find that telling knockout punch with which he had won his previous bouts with.

Paul withstood some heavy blows from Woodley and was eventually declared the winner via a split decision by the judges who scored the fight 77-75, 75-77, 78-74 in the social media stars favour who was fighting in his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio.

After the fight, Paul complimented his opponent who immediately requested a rematch. Paul told Woodley he could have one if he got a tattoo saying “I love Jake Paul” added: “Get the tattoo and we will run it back. I’ve got a tattoo artist here!” The 24-year-old later said: “He needs to get a tattoo quickly or we will find another opponent. Put it on his Instagram. A permanent tattoo. Then we can talk about it.”

Paul has already teased another fight with many expecting him to face Tommy Fury, who beat Anthony Taylor on the undercard on Sunday night.

Elsewhere reactions to the fight were mixed as many were reluctant to compliment Paul on his victory due to the stars controversial online persona whereas others thought he deserved to have his hand raised at the end and, of course, there were plenty of memes.

Whether Woodley will get that tattoo or not remains to be seen but Paul’s win marks another impressive milestone on his fledgling boxing career.
