Leeds United fans have a very NSFW chant about Boris Johnson

Leeds United fans have put their own British spin on “Let’s go Brandon” – using a more direct, NSFW approach, of course.

Despite losing heavily against Arsenal on Saturday, Leeds supporters turned their attention elsewhere to keep spirits high: politics.

In a viral clip viewed more than half a million times in 48 hours, fans from the stands can be heard chanting “Boris Johnson is a c***” in unison.

One Twitter user said it had the potential to be the Christmas number one, while another needed “this as a ringtone.”

While the team couldn’t be praised for their 4-1 loss, one Twitter user commended Leeds fans for standing up for what they believed in – in their own unique way, no less.

“Follow up with ‘Where’s the trains we were promised’ to the tune of ‘Getting sacked in the morning’,” another joked.

While one social media user showed their support for the fans’ less is more ideology. “Football fans always keep it simple,” they said.

One person had “sympathy” for the prime minister for “listening to all the wrong people.”

“I do have some sympathy for him, though,” they said. “He is just listening to all the wrong people but it’s his job to get more opinions so he can then make sound balanced decisions.”

Here’s a flavour of some of the other responses:

Meanwhile, there was an alleged racist incident during Saturday’s match after Arsenal substitute Rob Holding said he had encountered racial abuse from a Leeds supporter. Referee Andre Mariner spoke with match officials, and one arrest was made.

In an official statement after the game, Leeds United said: “Racism will not be tolerated at Leeds United and any supporter found to be using racist language will be subject to a lifetime ban for all Leeds United games.”
