Megan Rapinoe, the captain of the US women's soccer team, has said that she would not go to the 'f*****g White House' even if her team won the World Cup.

It is a tradition for a successful sports team to visit the White House after winning a major championship or tournament, but some teams have refused to take up this invite since Trump became president.

It would appear that Rapinoe intends on continuing that trend, even if the United States retain their title in France this year.

During an interview with Eight by Eight magazine, the 33-year-old winger, who is a critic of Trump, was asked if she was looking forward to visiting the White House to which she replied:

I'm not going to the f*****g White House.

No. I'm not going to the White House.

We're not going to be invited. I doubt it.

Rapinoe has recently been criticised by Trump after she chose not to put her hand over her heart during the rendition of the American national anthem for a World Cup game and refused to sing.

Before the tournament, both she and her teammate Alex Morgan declared that they would not attend the White House celebration if they were invited. She has also staged kneeling protests, similar to Colin Kaepernick in the past, but has since stopped.

She also told Yahoothat she sees herself as a 'walking protest' against Trump.

I feel like it's kind of defiance in and of itself to just be who I am and wear the jersey, and represent it.

Because I'm as talented as I am, I get to be here, you don't get to tell me if I can be here or not.

So it's kind of a good ‘F you' to any sort of inequality or bad sentiments that the [Trump] administration might have towards people who don't look exactly like him.

Which, God help us if we all looked like him. Scary. Really scary. Ahh, disturbing.

Rapinoe's most recent comments about Trump have gone viral and she has been widely praised for speaking out against the administration in such an unapologetic fashion.

It should be noted that Rapinoe visited the White House when the USA won the 2015 World Cup, so we can hardly blame her for not wanting to go there when Trump is in charge.

The United States team are due to play hosts France on Friday evening in the quarter-finals of the competition, where Rapinoe has already scored three goals.
