Merriam-Webster's Twitter account is on fire.
The dictionary’s official account is like a masked vigilante - the hero Twitter deserves and the one it needs.
It has been known to wade into politics with on-the-nose Word of the Days.
Like when it roasted Kellyanne Conway for 'alternative facts':
*whispers into the void* In contemporary use, fact is understood to refer to something with actual existence. https://t.co/gCKRZZm23c— Merriam-Webster (@Merriam-Webster) 1485298231
And US President Donald Trump for 'unpresidented':
Good morning! The #WordOfTheDay is...not 'unpresidented'. We don't enter that word. That's a new one. https://t.co/BJ45AtMNu4— Merriam-Webster (@Merriam-Webster) 1481982085
On Friday, Donald Trump failed to repeal the Affordable Care Act after House Republican leaders retracted legislation from consideration having failed to gather enough votes from within their own party.
Also on Friday, Merriam-Webster tweeted its Word of the Day.
'Nightmare'.
Good morning? The #WordOfTheDay is nightmare. https://t.co/R13IzMaoNF— Merriam-Webster (@Merriam-Webster) 1490356687
The shade is extraordinary...
@MerriamWebster My word of the day for this tweet: respect. https://t.co/Pv4qAwOLhC— Surprise_Island (@Surprise_Island) 1490359554
The sass.
@MerriamWebster Oh, you sassy dictionary. Never change.— jessica (@jessica) 1490357258
Srsly.
#musesocial someone needs to invite @MerriamWebster social folks to talk at a conference. They're killing the smart sass— seema r (@seema r) 1490410557

Ladies and gentlemen we present Merriam-Webster: the hero we didn't know we needed.
