Need to cure a hangover? Why not try this 1,900-year-old method favoured by ancient Egyptians.
It comes from a translation of newly-published papyrus from the Egypt Exploration Society. The volume, written in Greek, is part of medical texts from ancient Egypt known as the Oxyrhynchus Papyri.
A translation advises sufferers of a "drunken headache" to "wear a leaf of plantain".
It's not clear whether this would work, but it's probably just as effective as WC Fields's favoured method to cure a hangover: two pickled eggs and some castor oil.
