John Cena's latest advert is really weird and nobody knows what to think

Is it just us or are adverts getting weirder and weirder and unattached to the product they are selling?

Recently WWE wrestler and Hollywood actor John Cena has been shilling Skyy Vodka, a San Francisco-based company who are aiming to celebrate diversity in the new ad campaign.

The first of these, which are part of a series called 'Proudly American', was relatively straightforward, if not a bit too patriotic for our liking, as Cena 'pledges allegiance to the American dream'.

It's sentimental and we're not sure what it has to do with vodka, but it works on a certain level.

Yet, the next advert is something altogether different as the 41-year-old parodies as all three members of a boy band.

Cena shared it on his Twitter page and it might be the most surreal thing we've ever seen. Take a look for yourself.

I mean, we get it. It's just another weird bit of marketing that will hopefully go viral and it seems to be doing the trick.

It has already been viewed more than 1.25 million times on Twitter, but that doesn't mean that anyone has the foggiest at what's going on in it.

Some of John's fellow wrestlers have also been left equally dumbfounded.

If you are still completely clueless as to what is going on, this is what Cena told Business Insider:

You can argue anything. And you can use political rhetoric to pull anything into your gravity if you want.

But if people care to politicize [diversity], which is written into the very fibre of what the United States of America stands for, if they want to make an argument out of it, then I don't want to be a part of that argument.

I was really drawn to the fact that it was titled 'Proudly American.' I am a proud patriot, and I think a patriot first, above all.

I think it's a message that's not only good now, but it's good anytime and anywhere.

I think, no matter what the situation — if it's hard political times or if it's everybody playing nice together — the message of embracing diversity is important every single day, no matter where you are on your history timeline.

So, it's all to do with America and vodka? OK.

To be honest, we're just amazed that we could see Cena in the advert. A rare occurrence.
