Family photos can be bizarrely formal affairs.

An image that is supposed to document your familial bond and ease with each other can turn into a portrait of tight-lipped smiles.

The grins which attempt to conceal the previous 15 minutes in which Dad absolutely lost his rag over height difference, or Mum was furious at the outfit your sister chose.

It can all be a bit forced.

One way to undo the tension is to pose for joke photos.

Or, better yet, commit to one joke photo over a number of years.

That's what one family has done to Reddit's amusement.

As people pointed out - the roles all changed over the years with the exception of King Dad.

Also people noticed that Dad didn't really change his face either...

People had a theory...

And a much bleaker one:

Which makes it all much less funny.
