Tesco made a bit of a crucial error in this promotion for Ramadan...

Tesco has removed a Ramadan promotion offering "smokey bacon" flavoured Pringles at one of its stores in London.

The above image has been shared widely on social media with many people pointing out the irony of the deal considering Muslims believe eating pork is forbidden.

Although the Pringles don't actually contain any meat products, "smokey bacon" isn't exactly a good choice considering the circumstances.

Speaking to i100.co.uk, Raza Hassan, who spotted the promotion in Liverpool Street, said he wasn't offended by it, but just thought it was funny:

When I first saw the promotion, there were many flavours of crisps – it just so happened that particular flavour was placed on top.

I think it is a very nice thought and gesture from Tesco, it just seemed a bit ironic!

Tesco said in a statement that the Pringles were indeed put out in error and have now been removed:

We are proud to offer a wide range of meals and products to meet the needs of our customers during Ramadan.

We recognise these Pringles weren’t in the most suitable place and our store colleagues have now moved them.
